Director of Student Ministries
Reports to: Family Ministry Pastor

Position Overview: The Director of Student Ministries (6th-12th grades) plays a key role in the development and execution of Covenant Church’s vision for reaching our students and their families with the Gospel of Jesus Christ by Igniting Faith and Changing Lives. The position will lead, shepherd, and teach our 6th - 12th grade students.

The position will lead, shepherd, and teach our 6th - 12th grade students.
Primary Areas of Responsibilities: Leadership, Shepherding, and Teaching
- Oversee all student ministry (6th-12th grades) sunday nights, small groups, worship, and sunday school classes while recruiting, training and leading new leaders for middle & high school ministries.
- Maintain a relational-driven ministry with students and their families while following within the Ministry Safe and Covenant Church policies for volunteers, students, and staff.
- Maintain a comprehensive youth ministry program while equipping students to take their faith beyond the walls of Covenant Church.
- Plan and lead missional experiences during the summer months and throughout the school-year.
- Plan and develop our Confirmation Program that is thoroughly Wesleyan and uniquely Global Methodist in its belief and practices.
- Plan retreats and missions, place volunteers, recruit new volunteers, and lead volunteer meetings in conjunction with the Youth Ministry Team composed of key adult leaders and Student Ministry Staff.
- Oversee social media accounts and the websites as well as other forms of communication.
- Responsible for formulating and maintaining the annual budget throughout the year.
- Staff liaison for our Athletics Ministry; local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter; and local middle & high school
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Emphasis on leadership and relationship building skills. Having the ability to manage one’s self and their staff (Associate Director of Students) is key to this role.
- Be a creative, dependable, and energetic self-starter who sees middle & high school ministry as a calling from God.
- Be strong in organization, delegation, and planning skills for ministries and programs.
- A teachable, coachable spirit with a desire to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.
- Execute other duties as assigned by Senior Leadership.
- Help provide pastoral care for students and families.
- Coordinate and execute parent and ministry meetings.
- Coordinate and execute volunteer training events.
- Connect and engage with the male population of the student ministry, while equipping our female leaders to engage and build meaningful relationships with our female students.
- Attend and engage with all aspects of the Student Ministry (standard programming, special initiatives, events, trips, retreats, training sessions, etc.)
- Help execute programming for our College/University Students along with Young Adult Ministries which falls under the duties of the Family Ministry Pastor.
- Model a personal growing relationship with Jesus Christ and perform all other duties as assigned by the pastoral and leadership team.
Knowledge and Skills Needed:
- A bachelor’s degree in ministry, Christian education, nextgen or student ministry education is preferred but not require
- Experience of at least 3-5 years in student ministry, preferably in a medium-large context
- Be grounded in Orthodox Christian theology and Methodist/Wesleyan doctrine
- Ability to create energy and understand the value of both fun and depth in discipling students
- Embrace a commitment for long-term planning and implementation of Covenant Church’s Student Ministry
- Communicates effectively with parents, students, colleagues, and volunteers
- Proven track record of managing a team (volunteers, staff, etc.)
- Office and administrative skills (Microsoft Applications, Google Applications, Pro Presenter, Planning Center, Canva, Subsplash, ACS)
- Ability to manage and work with a Youth Ministry Staff and in concert with the Family Ministry Team
The Director of Student Ministries position is employed by the Staff Parish Relations Committee and shall work under the supervision of the Family Ministry Pastor.
Compensation and Benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. This position is a Full-Time Salaried position with Benefits and Relocation Assistance available.
