The SC Annual Conference will be meeting June 4-7, 2023.
Sometime during their deliberations there will be a vote to allow SC churches, having met the requirements, to separate from the UMC. Covenant has met all the requirements, including the posting of our payment that was due to escrow.
We anticipate separating from the UMC effective July 1, 2023, and all our property will be received by our new entity – Covenant Church. Please pray for our church and about 100 other South Carolina churches seeking separation.
The Church Council, taking the Way Forward’s recommendation and studying the Transitional Doctrines and Disciplines of the Global Methodist Church (GMC), has voted to affiliate with the GMC. There will be a TOWN HALL gathering on May 30 at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary to learn about the GMC and answer questions about Covenant’s transition. On June 11, 2023, there will be a congregational vote on the Council’s recommendation to affiliate with the GMC. More details are coming next week about our voting process, ballot, and time of vote.
