Communications Assistant
Position Title: Communications Assistant
Reports To: Director of Communications & Media
Employment Type: Part-Time (20 Hours)

Position Overview:
The Communications Assistant plays a vital support role on the Communications Team at Covenant Church. Working under the direction of the Director of Communications & Media, this position helps ensure that all church communications are clear, creative, and timely. The Communications Assistant will assist with content creation, scheduling, proofreading, and general administrative tasks to help maintain the church’s brand and communication standards across print, digital, and social media platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist with weekly email newsletters, ministry updates, and special announcements.
Help maintain and update the church website with accurate, timely content.
Support the creation of printed materials, including bulletins, brochures, flyers, and event signage.
Proofread and edit content for accuracy, tone, and consistency.
Assist in managing church social media accounts through scheduling posts, curating content, and monitoring engagement.
Create basic graphics using templates and brand guidelines (e.g., Canva).
Support photo and video projects as needed, including capturing content at events and services.
Maintain digital archives of photos, videos, and communication materials.
Assist with uploading sermon videos to appropriate platforms (e.g., website, YouTube).
Pull and organize livestream and video analytics for reporting purposes.
Provide backup support for Sunday morning livestream monitoring as needed.
Assist in the coordination and scheduling of communication timelines for various ministries.
Help with signage needs around the church campus (design, printing, installation support)
Support the recruitment, coordination, and oversight of communications and media volunteers.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
Basic knowledge of communications tools (email platforms, social media scheduling tools, Canva, etc.).
Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate within a team.
Familiarity with church communications or nonprofit communications is a plus.
A commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Covenant Church.
Additional Information:
Part-time position with flexible hours. Must be available Sunday mornings; evening work may be required for major events.
